Collective history of the community laundries and the Antigua Fábrica de Loza neighborhood in Bogotá

Abstract

Collective history is an approach that was used in Latin America to construct memory by the state, civil society, and schools. In the Colombian context, it has been beneficial for a multidimensional understanding of the armed conflict. This paper, through collective memory exercises with the community that lives and uses the community laundries in the Antigua Fábrica de Loza neighborhood, seeks to create a collective history of the territory, encompassing three elements of value for the community: social and spatial transformations of the neighborhood and its surroundings; resistance to remain in the territory and finally, the space of the community laundries as the epicenter of community life.
